Cash for Caulkers Timeline

November 17, 2009 – David Leonhardt of the New York Times publishes an article giving details about the Cash for Caulkers program being considered at the White House.  Leonhardt quotes the President’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, as saying “It’s one of the top things he’s looking at.”

December 15, 2009 – President Obama makes an appearance at a Home Depot store in Northern Virginia.  Says that “Insulation is sexy stuff”.

January 27, 2010 – In his State of the Union Address, President Obama states that jobs are the #1 priority of his administration this year and that he wants a job creation bill on his desk as soon as possible.  The President states “we should give rebates to Americans that make their homes more energy efficient.”

April 14, 2010 – Legislation introduced by Rep. Peter Welch, a Democrat from Vermont.

April 16, 2010 – The Energy and Commerce Committee reported the bill, which passed on a vote of 30-17, largely along party lines.

May 6, 2010 – Bill H.R. 5019 passed by the House of Representatives.

    Barry, unfortunately it doesn’t appear that we’ll know more about Cash for Caulkers anytime soon.
